Did you know?
- This velodrome opened in 1997. The whole hall is dug deep into the ground, and only its flat silver roof pokes out!
- Hundreds of apple trees grow round the roof. From the outside, the velodrome looks like a silver lake in an orchard.
- Every winter, the Six Days of Berlin comes to this hall. The first Six Days in Berlin was raced in 1909, more than a hundred years ago!
- At the Six Days, the band plays an old tune called the Sportpalast Waltz. Then the whole crowd whistles along!
- The World Championships came here in 1999 and in 2020. In 2020, Emma Hinze won three gold medals on this track!
- So much earth was dug out to build this velodrome that it filled more than a thousand trains!
